SUMMARY:Rainbow International 5th Annual Charity Golf Classic and Auction
DESCRIPTION:Rainbow Int'l. of Columbia is a leader in emergency restoration and reconstruction services\, recognized and respected for always meeting and exceeding the expectations of its customers and employees. We at Rainbow are grateful for our success and are always looking for opportunities to give back to our community.\n\nIn a few short weeks\, Rainbow will host the 5th Annual Charity Golf Classic and Auction. This will be the 4th year we have dedicated the event to support young mothers battling late-stage cancer. This event has become a successful tradition because of the heart-felt support from businesses and individuals who share the common goal of supporting these young mothers and their families. Since making this its mission three years ago\, the event has generated over $86\,000 for the recipients.\n\nIn 2012\, Rainbow learned that a friend and colleague was facing a very difficult situation as his wife Karen's battle with cancer had progressed to stage 4. The previous year\, Rainbow had put together an entertaining golf event to benefit a local charity. After learning about Karen's battle\, Rainbow decided to dedicate its second annual event to raising funds for Karen and her family. The goal was to raise enough money to allow Karen to focus more on the battle and less on the financial burden. The event was a huge success as it raised $20\,000 for Karen and her family\, with a portion of the proceeds going to The American Cancer Society as the sponsor charity.\n\nThe efforts and the outcome of this charitable event had a significant impact on Karen\, her family\, and Reed Mattingly\, the owner of Rainbow. The experience of working with community and individuals to insure the success of this event and the outstanding results led Reed to dedicate all future charity golf tournaments to the support of other young mothers battling late-stage cancer.\n\nThe following year\, a committee was formed\, which included their friend who inspired the efforts the year before\, together with a few colleagues from other local businesses who helped make the prior year's event a success. The committee members also decided that they would support a local charity with a similar mission and chose The Sparkle Caps Project to be the sponsor charity.\n\nThe Sparkle Caps Project is a local grassroots 501(c)(3) charity\, which was established in October 2010 while the founder was on her own cancer journey. The goal of Sparkle Caps is to empower and uplift women in treatment for cancer with support\, love\, and personal experiences of cancer survivors\; to let women know that\, in spite of their hair loss\, their femininity is not tied to their hair\; and to help them maintain positive attitudes\, because that is part of the battle. Sparkle Caps is honored to be the sponsor charity for the third year in a row.\n\nThis year\, the committee includes two of the events past recipients. Their involvement has provided a new perspective on the significance of this event. Although the financial support is amazing\, it is the overwhelming emotional support from everyone involved that is even more meaningful.\n\nOn May 5th\, hundreds of individuals will again gather together in support of two deserving young mothers and their families. Our beneficiaries of this year's event are Joanie Loquist from Irmo and Kelly Hallman from Gilbert.\n\nThis annual event will continue to make a difference in the lives of young mothers battling late-stage cancer. If you would like to support this year's recipients or learn more about being a part of this special event\, please contact Greg Smith or Chris Mattingly at 803-781-5557.\n\n\n\nMore information here.
